Stoinis’ record-breaking fifty guides Australia to Victory:

Australian Captain Aaron Finch made the right call at the toss and decided to bowl first against Sri Lanka.

Pathum Nissanka and Kusal Mendis opened the innings for Sri Lanka. Pat Cummins got early wicket of Mendis as Mitchell Marsh took an easy catch. It was a Perfect Start for Australia.Nissanka and Dhananjaya De Silva made 69 runs Partnership and the partnership was broken by Ashton Agar. Pathum Nissanka was trying hard because he was struggling to score runs and the pressure got to him, as he ran himself out.

Rajapaksa, Shanaka and Hasaranga got out cheaply as they they didn’t even enter in double figure.

All praises were for Charith Asalanka who played a wonderful innings of 38 runs on 25 balls with 3 fours and 2 sixes. If Asalanka had faced more balls Sri Lanka would have had 15 to 20 runs more.

Australia needed 158 runs to win against Sri Lanka. Pat Cummins, Starc, Hazelwood, Agar and Maxwell got 1 wicket each.

David Warner and Aaron Finch were at the crease to open the innings. Australia’s score was 26 and Theekshana got the huge wicket of David Warner on his very first ball. Second wicket of Australia fell on 60 runs as Dhananjaya De Silva got the wicket of Mitchell Marsh at a crucial time and Marsh walked towards pavilion after scoring just 18 runs.

Maxwell played a quick Cameo for the team, he scored 23 runs on 12 balls with 2 fours and 2 sixes. Marcus Stoinis was also in a different mood today. It looked like he wanted to end the match early as he played a furious innings today.

Australia won the match by 7 wickets. They chased the target in 16.3 overs.The Player of the match Marcus Stoinis played magnificent innings of 59 runs of just 18 balls, Smashing 6 sixes and 4 fours with the Strike rate of 327.78.
