Thomas power Mardan Warriors to 8-wicket over Gujranwala Giants in PJL opener:

The Mardan Warriors defeated the Gujranwala Giants by eight wickets in the first game of the Pakistan Junior League on Thursday at the Gaddafi Stadium. Aimal Khan shone with the ball and George Thomas impressed with the bat.

Gujranwala Giants were restricted to 131-7, Thomas scored 52 off 30 balls which lead Mardan Warriors to victory with two wickets down in 16.5 overs.

After both openers were quickly dismissed, skipper Abbas Ali and Olly Cox made sure there were no more problems by scoring the final 27 runs together. Cox was 19 not out, while Abbas was at 10.

Before the end of the Powerplay overs, the Gujranwala Giants fell to 29 for three when put to bat. However, their captain Uzair Mumtaz, who hit a 54 off 47 balls, kept their innings together. Uzair scored 67 runs for the fourth wicket with Mohammad Waqas (18), who was also a partner. , while Thomas Aspinwall, scored an eight-ball 10 at that position.

The most damage was done by Aimal Khan, who finished with three for fifteen. He dismissed Shevon Daniel , Ariful Islam, and Uzair Mumtaz.

Abidullah and Mohammad Nabeel took two wickets each, giving up 24 and 29 runs, respectively.
