Qalandars Recover from Early Stumble to Post Big Total

Karachi Kings struck early, removing openers Mohammad Naeem (7) and Abdullah Shafique (6) inside the Powerplay. However, Fakhar Zaman and Daryl Mitchell turned the game around with a sensational 125-run partnership. Fakhar, in sublime touch, smashed 76 off 47 balls, including 6 fours and 5 sixes, while Mitchell matched his aggression with a fiery 75 off 41, laced with 9 fours and 2 sixes.

Despite losing both set batters in quick succession, late cameos from Sam Billings (19 off 10) and Sikandar Raza (10* off 5) propelled Lahore to a formidable 201/6. Karachi’s bowlers struggled to contain the onslaught, with only Hasan Ali (2/34) and Abbas Afridi (2/39) managing multiple breakthroughs.

Shaheen, Rishad Rip Through Karachi’s Lineup

Karachi’s chase never got going as Shaheen Afridi delivered a devastating opening spell, dismissing David Warner and James Vince for ducks in the first over. The Kings’ top order crumbled under pressure, with Rishad Hossain further dismantling the middle order by removing Shan Masood, Irfan Khan, and Abbas Afridi. At 50/7 inside 10 overs, the match was effectively over.

Khushdil Shah (39 off 27) and Hasan Ali (27 off 25) offered brief resistance, but the target was far beyond reach. Sikandar Raza cleaned up the tail with two wickets as Karachi folded for 136 in 19.1 overs.

Key Takeaways

  • Fakhar-Mitchell Stand: The 125-run partnership set the platform for Lahore’s dominance.
  • Shaheen’s Fiery Spell: His early double-strike killed Karachi’s chase before it began.
  • Rishad’s Impact: The leg-spinner’s three-wicket haul broke Karachi’s backbone.

With this commanding win, Lahore Qalandars have sent a strong message to the league, while Karachi Kings will need a quick turnaround to bounce back in their upcoming fixtures.
