Liz Green appointed Head of Women’s High Performance:

Former WHITE FERNS and Wellington Blaze batter Liz Green has been appointed New Zealand Cricket’s Head of Women’s High Performance.

Green leaves her role as general manager of Cricket Wellington to take on the newly-created position, in which she is charged with growing the female high performance space off the back of the new Master Agreement.

An experienced high performance athlete, Green represented the WHITE FERNS in 17 ODIs and 31 T20Is, and was also a New Zealand hockey international between 2007 and 2010.

Green said she was thrilled to be joining NZC during an exciting time for the women’s game.

“This is an incredible opportunity and I can’t wait to get started,” said Green.

“The new Master Agreement signalled NZC’s intent to grow its investment in the women’s game and with that comes the opportunity to develop our best players on the world stage.

“At the highest level we want our WHITE FERNS competing to win major world events, which means we need a high performance structure that is consistently producing capable players.

“As a former player and current administrator, I’ve seen how far the women’s game in New Zealand has come, and I’m excited to be helping to build a female high performance programme that can bring sustained success.”

NZC chief executive David White was delighted with Green’s appointment.

“Liz has great experience as a professional athlete, both as a WHITE FERN and as a Black Stick, and with that comes an excellent understanding of the high performance landscape,” said Mr White.

“Additionally, her administrative experience with Cricket Wellington means she’s very familiar with the New Zealand cricket environment, which sets her up nicely for this role.”

NZC GM High Performance Cricket Bryan Stronach said Green was a great asset for the women’s game.

“Liz brings us an invaluable mix of Major Association and international cricket experience – she really does have the ideal skill-set,” said Stronach.

“The relationships she’s forged throughout New Zealand sport gives her real insights into this area and means she’ll be able to hit the ground running.”

Green begins her new role this week.
