Ishimwe cleans up 4 Zimbabwe batters to get Rwanda their first cricket win:

Another day, another jaw-dropping match in the ongoing Women’s U19 T20 World cup. The event so far has not failed to produce interesting matches. Each day a new news from the maiden event is seen making headlines. Today was the day of Rwandan bowlers who scripted their first win of the tournament by beating their fellow African country, Zimbabwe.

The talk of the town, however, was not their first win but the way they got this victory under their belt. A huge part of this victory and the applause which followed it came because of Rwandan U19 women’s heroics in the penultimate over of the second innings, which was bowled by Henriette Ishimwe. Ishimwe came to bowl when Zimbabwean women were 80/6 and 40 runs away from the victory.

The right armer did not let the Zimbabwean batters score even 1 more run after it as she took 4 wickets in 4 balls, scripting her and the tournament’s first double hat trick. The pacer bowled the first delivery to Kudzai Chigora, who tried to slog the length ball across the line but missed the ball which struck the timber behind her. On the very next, Olinda Chare became the Rwandan quick’s target as she thumped Chare’s pads with, again, a length ball, following which Umpire raised the finger. On the 3rd delivery, which was a hat trick ball, Ishimwe bowled a yorker which cleaned up Chipo Moyo and the 9th timber of the Zimbabwean young women fell.

Rwanda women were overjoyed and the pacer looked like the happiest person on the planet. The venture did not end for the pacer, even after claiming a hat-trick, and so she bowled another full length which Faith Ndlalambi tried to hit but missed again and so the ball rattled the stumps and the match ended in Rwanda’s favor. This onslaught ended whatever remaining hopes Zimbabwe had and this epoch-making victory became Rwanda’s first win in an ICC event.
