HEAD TO HEAD:WEATHER AND PITCH REPORT: PLAYING XI (PROBABLE): PREDICTION: WHERE TO WATCH:

On what will be an eventful day of this world cup campaign, six teams are scheduled to meet head-on on the field as three matches will be played in a single day. The first of these three matches will be played between Bangladesh and South Africa.

Bangladesh, owing to their Net Run Rate, currently sit at the top of the table. However, in the presence of group members like India, Pakistan and South Africa, maintaining this position will be a huge task for them. The pace unit, again, will be Shakib-led men’s biggest weapon to help them stay in the race. The way Taskin Ahmed created chaos in the Dutch lineup in Hobart the other day, helps us to understand the significance of pacers in conditions down under. The Bangladesh batters, however, will need to step up their game this time as the Proteas bowlers will hungrily await to use Sydney’s bounce for their assistance.

The Proteas, unluckily, were unable to seal their last match as victors because of the rain. Due to which they only have 1 point in their bag. Winning upcoming matches will be very crucial for the Bavuma-led men to earn a ticket to the semi finals. It is not news to anyone that the South African team is one of the strongest contenders for the semi finals thanks to the fine fettle they are currently in.

HEAD TO HEAD:

Both South Africa and Bangladesh were to meet for a warm-up match before the start of Super 12 round, sadly the match was called off due to rain.

In total, Bangladesh and South Africa have played T20Is 7 times against each other. The African team has swept the Bangladesh team clean in all 7 matches.

WEATHER AND PITCH REPORT:

After seeing their first outing abandoned due to rain, the last thing the Proteas would want is this game getting called off as well.

However, the Bureau of Meteorology has forecasted Sydney to remain pleasant and rain-free for the match to get underway as the chance of precipitation is only 40%. The overcast will be cloudy and light winds are expected as well.

The Sydney Cricket Ground or the SCG has hosted only one fixture of the T20 World Cup 2022 so far. This match between Bangladesh and South Africa will be the second match played here in the ongoing tournament.

The pitch of the SCG is very batting-friendly. However, bowlers with new balls are exceedingly lethal here. Hence, the batters will have to save wickets till the ball gets old and make the pitch assist them in hitting shots during middle overs. Boundary percentage at the SCG is 52.4%, 3rd lowest in the list of all the venues of the T20 World cup this year. This is because the boundary size here is smaller in size to only the MCG and the Gabba. Thus, for clearing the boundaries here, the batters will have to use their full strength.

Spinners can come in handy as well, especially finger spinners. This can be supported by Mitchell Santner’s spell which dishevelled the Australian lineup in the only match of the World Cup, Sydney has hosted so far.

PLAYING XI (PROBABLE):

South Africa: Quinton de Kock (wk), Temba Bavuma (c), Rilee Rossouw, Aiden Markram, David Miller, Tristan Stubbs, Wayne Parnell, Keshav Maharaj, Kagiso Rabada, Anrich Nortje, Lungi Ngidi.

Bangladesh: Najmul Hossain Shanto, Soumya Sarkar, Litton Das, Shakib Al Hasan (c), Afif Hossain, Yasir Ali Chowdhury, Nurul Hasan(wk), Mosaddek Hossain, Taskin Ahmed, Hasan Mahmud, Mustafizur Rahman.

PREDICTION:

The rain-affected match in Hobart will carry on to be a nightmare for the Proteas if they don’t win all of their next matches. Keeping that in mind, we can expect the already deadly South African team to be further nocuous in their outing against Bangladesh.

Anrich Nortje, Kagiso Rabada and Lungi Ngidi will turn the bouncy pitch of Sydney to good use. Especially with the new ball, the pace unit of Bavuma-led men will ravage the opposition’s batting lineup. This, paired with their absolutely brilliant batting order, gives the African team an upper hand over the Shakib-led men, making them more likely to fly-high at the Sydney Cricket Ground.

WHERE TO WATCH:

TV Broadcast: GTV, BTV, T Sports, Star Sports, Fox Sports 501 & Channel 9 HD, 9GemHD, SuperSport Grandstand & SuperSport Cricket.

PTV Sports and A Sports will broadcast the match on television for viewers in Pakistan.

Digital Broadcast: Rabbithole, Daraz app, AryZap, Tapmad, SkyGO, Supersport app.
