England Crush Australia by 186 Runs in Rain-Shortened ODI to Level Series 2-2

England Crush Australia by 186 Runs in Rain-Shortened ODI to Level Series 2-2: In a commanding performance at Lord’s on Friday, England demolished Australia by 186 runs in a rain-shortened ODI, leveling the five-match series at 2-2. Led by a brilliant display of power-hitting from Harry Brook and Liam Livingstone, the hosts set a challenging total of 312-5 in just 39 overs, before Matthew Potts ripped through Australia’s batting order, sealing a comprehensive victory.

England captain Harry Brook was in scintillating form, scoring a blistering 87, anchoring the innings after the early dismissal of Jonny Bairstow. Brook’s knock set the stage for Liam Livingstone, who smashed a rapid-fire 62 from just 27 balls, leaving the Australian bowlers shell-shocked. Their combined efforts propelled England to a daunting total, capitalizing on every scoring opportunity in a shortened match.

Australia, fresh off a 14-match unbeaten streak in ODIs, initially showed promise in their chase. Openers Travis Head and David Warner raced to 68 without loss, putting England under early pressure. However, Brydon Carse’s dismissal of Head for 34 in the ninth over sparked a collapse. Australia lost six wickets for just 28 runs as they crumbled to 96-6 by the 16th over.

Matthew Potts was the pick of England’s bowlers, claiming a career-best 4-38, dismantling Australia’s middle order. With wickets falling at regular intervals, Australia’s hopes faded under the floodlights, and they were bundled out for a paltry 126 in 24.4 overs. Adil Rashid wrapped up the innings, dismissing Sean Abbott to complete a dominant England performance.

The series, which Australia had led 2-0, will now be decided in the final match on Sunday in Bristol.
