Cricket ACT announces teams of the century in its centenary:
Cricket ACT, which is the governing body of cricket in the Australian Capital Territory, recently celebrated their Centenary with an illustrious Gala dinner at the National Museum of Australia. On this mammoth and gleeful occasion, the Cricket ACT also named the men’s and women’s team of the century.
450 people attended this honorary event including the likes of Cricket ACT Patron Sir Peter Cosgrove, ACT Chief Minister Andrew Barr, Cricket Australia representatives, Cricket ACT Life Members, current and former players, families and friends.
The selected team of the decade was finalized through voting by ACT cricketers, Cricket ACT representatives and board members. Further, officials, both former and current, from Canberra media and local historians also took part in the voting. The teams were finalized as:
Men’s Team of the Century:

– Michael Bevan

– Brad Haddin
– Greg Irvine

Women’s Team of the Century:

– Lynette Cook

The Cricket ACT also announced the coach, umpire, and scorer of the century.

Cricket ACT CEO Olivia Thornton was pleased with the elected teams of the century and expressed her gratitude towards past and present cricketers to enlighten ACT with their presence.
“We’re so pleased to recognise the contributions of so many wonderful cricketers – male and female – who have made and continue to make their mark on the game in the ACT over the past 100 years,” Thornton said.
It is to be noted here that Cricket ACT was founded in 1922 to govern cricket and related activities in the Australian Capital Territory region.
