Babar Azam registers unwanted record during 3rd ODI vs New Zealand:

Pakistan’s skipper and the World’s number 1 ODI batter as of now, Babar Azam, enjoys thrashing the opponents especially in the 50 over format of the game. His average in the 50 over long format of cricket is 49.6 and so, he has been clinical and very crucial for the green shirts throughout the ongoing series between Pakistan and New Zealand.

In the first two matches of the series, the right hander successfully reached his 50 runs while in the third one, when he was on a streak of 5 half centuries, Babar’s timber was struck with only 4 runs next to his name, by the wicket keeper Tom Latham behind the stumps.

His early departure shocked the fans and it wasn’t the only thing that did so. Ironically, in all three of the ODI matches during the series, the 28 year old was stumped out. In the first match of the series, the Lahore-born danced down the track and tried to hit Glenn Phillips on the leg side but missed the ball, taking advantage of which Tom Latham quickly demolished his stumps.

In the second one, the Pakistan captain tried to go for a reverse sweep off Ish Sodhi but stumbled, which coupled with Tom Latham’s brilliant timing of knocking the bails off of the stumps, led to Babar’s dismissal. In the 3rd outing as well, Babar dashed down the strip and was stumped out off a Bracewell ball which turned a little.

What’s more ironic is that, he has only been stumped out one time before and these three outings have brought his stumped out tally to 4.
