Big Boost for Naseem Shah | ICC T20I Rankings Update after WT20:
The T20 World cup packed its bags last week, the achievements that players made throughout this journey will keep paying off, both in tangible and intangible ways. One of the first fruits for the players who had a good tournament was the elevation in rankings. As expected, the top 10 rankings did not see much changes; few players, however, made huge leaps as announced in the recent update.
According to the recent ICC T20 rankings, English opener Alex Hales has gained a massive ranking boost on the back of his stunning performances in the T20 World Cup in Australia.
Hales, who had been absent from international cricket for more than three years was selected in the English tour of Pakistan just before the World Cup. With his glorious best for the major part of the tournament, reaching the apogee of his brilliant performances when his team bested the semi-final against India.
The right-handed hard hitter batsman improved his rankings by almost 100 points and he now lurks just near the top 10 positions, taking a glance at them from his 12th ranking.
Besides Hales, South Africa’s Rilee Rossouw who adorned his tournament contributions with a hundred moved from 21st position to seventh position. New Zealand’s dangerman Finn Allen used his crucial runs in the tournament to move 19 positions, from 30th to 11th.
In addition to the aforementioned players, Pakistan’s crisis men, Iftikhar Ahmed and Shan Masood also gained a massive rise in their rankings. Iftikhar stands at 53rd position now while Masood is the 59th batsman in rankings. Ahmed made improvement from 74th rank and Masood improved from 100th.

Talking about the bowling, India’s rescuer at many occasions with the ball, Arshdeep Singh, made the highest jump in the T20i rankings among bowlers. The young pacer started the tournament from 54th but using his commendable bowling he now rests at 22nd position in the list.
Player of the final and the tournament, Sam Curran also bore fruits of his hard work as he sits at 5th position after jumping 11 spots. The young English bowler dismissed batsmen 13 times during the tournament and played an ever-so significant role in the final.
Afghanistan’s Fazalhaq Farooqi is now placed at 20th position after he crossed 16 positions on the back of his tournament performance.
The lethal Pakistan’s ace pacer and probably the best opening bowler, Shaheen Shah Afridi, who landed in the tournament straight out of rehab has progressed to 18th position from his 36th position before the world cup.
The falcon’s compatriot Naseem Shah surged in the recent rankings as well. The fearsome bowling of Naseem Shah saw him placed at 30th position from 70.
Although his side made an early exit, the Islander all-rounder Dhananjaya de Silva improved to 70 places to 30th citing his emphatic all-round performances in the tournament.
The English all-rounder Ben Stokes also saw a rise in his rankings citing his match-winning 50 in the finals. The England’s cricketer was ranked 41st in the list after he made a 59 spot jump.
