West Indies Women’s Squad Named For New Zealand ODI Series:
The West Indies women cricket team has called up Natasha McLean and Sheneta Grimmond again on the grounds that Anisa Mohammed, Deandra Dottin, and Kycia Knight will be missing the three-match ODI series against New Zealand. The series is due to begin on September sixteenth. All the matches will be played at Antigua’s Sir Vivian Richards Stadium. Following the ODI series, the teams will meet at the same venue for a five-match T20I series.
This will also be the first time Hayley Matthews leads the West Indies ladies’ team. During the team announcement, the selectors also made it clear that how the 6ixty competition played a part in their selection of the squad. Jannillea Glasgow, for instance, was called up to the West Indies team, interestingly for the first time due to her recent performances.
Their performances in the 6ixty helped Natasha McLean and Sheneta Grimmond make their way in to the squad . Grimmond was the second leading wicket-taker in the sixty. She played her last international game in November.
McLean, on the other hand, played her last international game in September 2020. Despite having a forgettable competition, she was called up for the ODI series.

Ann Browne-John, the women’s cricket team’s top selector, believes the series against New Zealand is significant. She also mentioned the team’s appropriate mix of experience and fresh blood. “The New Zealand series is vital for the women’s cricket landscape since it begins another cycle, but also because it is essential for the planning driving towards the T20 World Cup in South Africa,” said Ann.
The ODI series against New Zealand begins from September 16 and will be followed by a 5 match T20I series which would be vital in preparation for the Women’s T20 worldcup in early 2023.
