Babar Azam contrasts Naseem’s sixes to Miandad’s Sharjah strike:
Pakistan chased down 130 against Afghanistan in a last over thriller, everybody had only one name all the rage, that of Naseem Shah. With 11 runs and just a wicket in hand, the bowler turned into an unlikely hero when he bludgeoned 2 sixes off Fazalhaq Farooqi to finish the match off in style.
During the press conference, Pakistan skipper Babar Azam compared Naseem Shah’s sixes with that of Javed Miandad’s six to Chetan Sharma in an India versus Pakistan encounter on this exact same ground, saying, “Naseem Shah’s two sixes helped us to remember Javed Miandad,” to which Ravi Shastri jested, “I was there, thanks for reminding.”
Naseem Shah’s teammate Shadab Khan additionally said, “Like we recall the sixes from Javed and Shahid Afridi, these two sixes by Naseem this evening will also be remembered till the end of his career.”

It must be Sharjah, which over the course of the years has played host to innumerable thrillers, and this one was no different. The match was delicately balanced on a knife edge, while focusing on no clear winner till the last over.
As Pakistan gave in towards the end, everything appeared to be lost when Naseem Shah needed to confront Farooqi in the last over with 11 runs needed from 6 balls. But the young bowler held his nerve and smoked two sixes from the first two balls of the final over to propel Pakistan all the way to the Asia Cup final and entrenched himself in the annals of cricketing legend.
