Will Jacks Expresses Wish to play for England after getting a century in the Hundred:

It was just 4 days ago that we witnessed the first-ever Hundred hundred by Will Smeed against Southern Brave. On Sunday we saw more fireworks at the Oval as the explosive opening batter of the Oval Invincibles Will Jacks scored the second century and the highest score of the tournament. He made 108 not out from which 88 runs came just from the boundaries. The Oval Invincibles Captain Sam Billings talking about his performance said: “It was seriously special and It was all about one man”.

Speaking to the press, Will Jacks said that he absolutely loved how the crowd got behind him in his innings and every time he got back on strike in his 90s, the crowd cheered for him and he, therefore, decided that they deserved to see him get to his hundred in style as he stated “They were all screaming,”  “I thought to myself: I’ve got to get there with a six. For the crowd, I have to do that.”Looking at his recent performances, the 23-year-old has been with Surrey’s first team for five seasons and in the current season of Vitality Blast, he was the best batter for Surrey as he scored 449 runs with an average of  30+ and a Strike Rate of 140+. He is also currently the 2nd best batsman for Surrey in the ongoing County Championship with 648 runs at an average of 54 runs including 2 centuries.

Speaking about the Hundred, Jack further said: “It’s a great occasion every time you play in the Hundred, and I was really buzzing for tonight.”Currently, Jacks is the third highest Run Scorer in the Hundred overall with a great strike rate of 185.63.

Speaking about his consistency and the concision of mind he made a to-the-point statement: “Like everyone else, I really want to play for England,”  “That’s driving me. I’m just really hungry at the moment. I’m doing the right things at the moment. There’s so much competition around, and everyone knows that. It’s two innings, and that’s it. Every time, you’ve got to go out there with the mindset that ‘I have to score runs to put my name in that hat. There are a lot of players who are in that spot, guys who are playing well. It’s a really good competition and it’s good for English white-ball cricket”.

Talking about his opening partner Jason Roy and defending his poor run of form, Jacks stated that:”Everyone is going to say he’s got another duck, but that was a fantastic ball,”. “It swung back beautifully and hit the top of the middle. He’s an unbelievable player. I’ve stood at the other end from him for the last five years: I know just as well as everyone else what he can do.

“He’s one of my good mates and I love batting with him. Everyone hopes he can find form. When he’s on form, nobody wants to bowl to him.”

The Southern Brave Coach Mahela Jayawardene when asked in his press conference about Will Jacks stated: “He’s been knocking on the door for a while now,” “It’s good for the tournament and it’s good for English cricket seeing all the younger guys coming here and showing the skillset that they have. That’s what it’s all about: giving them an opportunity with international cricketers. That exposure will obviously help them.”

The next limited-overs assignment of the England Cricket Team will be their first tour of Pakistan in 17 years as they face Pakistan in 7 T20is beginning in just over a month from 20th September and his Hundred and Blast performances will surely leave a mark on the selectors as Jacks knocks on the doors for a National team call up.
