Who Is Salman Mirza? The Pacer Who Won Lahore The NT20 Cup: The National T20 Cup 2025 final witnessed a sensational performance from Lahore Region Blues’ left-arm pacer, Salman Mirza, who dismantled Peshawar’s batting lineup with a fiery spell. His figures of 4 for 21 in four overs were instrumental in restricting Peshawar to a meager 110/9, paving the way for Lahore’s dominant nine-wicket victory.

Salman Mirza’s cricket career began away from the limelight, with his first major breakthrough coming when he made his T20 debut for Lahore Qalandars in the 2021 Pakistan Super League. Though his initial appearances were limited, he showed glimpses of his potential as a wicket-taking bowler. His determination to improve saw him venture into Zimbabwe’s domestic circuit in 2023, where he gained valuable experience across formats, making his List-A debut for Mountaineers in the Pro50 Championship and, later, his First-Class debut in the Logan Cup.

Despite being a late bloomer, Salman Mirza’s statistics make a strong case for his ability. In T20 cricket, he has taken 26 wickets in 18 matches at an impressive average of 16.11 and an economy rate of 6.75. His best figures of 4/11 highlight his knack for breaking partnerships. In the longer format, though still early in his First-Class career, he has already claimed 31 wickets in just six matches, including a six-wicket haul and a nine-wicket match haul, proving his effectiveness with the red ball as well.

The National T20 Cup final was undoubtedly his career-defining moment. With his sharp pace, accuracy, and clever variations, he dismantled Peshawar’s middle and lower order, turning the game decisively in Lahore’s favor. His ability to perform under pressure has raised questions about whether he could earn a recall to the PSL.

At 31, Salman Mirza may not fit the typical profile of an emerging talent, but his recent performances prove that class and impact matter more than age. Pakistan cricket has a history of rewarding domestic performers, and if Salman Mirza continues to deliver such match-winning spells, he could well find himself in contention for higher honors. For now, his story serves as an inspiration—a reminder that persistence, hard work, and seizing opportunities can rewrite a player’s destiny at any stage of their career. The final was his moment to shine, and if he maintains this form, there could be many more to come.
