Jos Buttler’s Heroics takes the Manchester Originals through to the Final at Lords
Jos Buttler’s Heroics takes the Manchester Originals through to the Final at Lords: Jos Buttler led a remarkable chase for Manchester Originals as they successfully chased down 197 runs to defeat Southern Brave in the Men’s Hundred Eliminator match at the Kia Oval in London in front of a crowd of over 19,000 people.
After winning the toss, the Originals decided to bowl first and, after the end of the first innings, Southern Brave seemed to be the favorites for the final as they posted 196-1 at the end of 100 balls courtesy of half-centuries from Finn Allen, James Vince, and Devon Conway.
However, things took a turn in the second innings as the Originals also dominated with the bat and scored double the amount of runs the Brave had after 30 balls. Jos Buttler had an amazing opening partnership with Phil Salt who scored 47. However, Buttler continued the carnage as he scored 82 runs off 46 balls. The Manchester Originals managed to finish the match with four deliveries to spare, achieving the highest chase in the history of the Hundred.
The Originals will now face the Oval Invincibles at Lord’s on Sunday in the Final of the Hundred, where they will now be looking to finish one step ahead rather than the second-place finish that they had in the previous year’s final, whereas the Oval Invincibles will be looking to win their first Men’s title after making it to the final for the first time in the competition.
