Designed to go beyond a traditional media call, the carnival-style event brought together leaders from all competing nations to share their outlook on the upcoming competition, discuss preparations and reflect on the growing competitiveness of the shortest format. With teams from established cricketing powers and emerging nations represented, the gathering underlined the depth and diversity that will define the month-long event.
Mumbai hosted captains including India’s Suryakumar Yadav, Afghanistan’s Rashid Khan, England’s Harry Brook, New Zealand’s Mitchell Santner, South Africa’s Aiden Markram and West Indies skipper Shai Hope, along with leaders from Canada, Italy, Namibia, Nepal, Scotland and the United States. Oman were represented by Mohammad Nadeem in place of Jatinder Singh.
Meanwhile in Colombo, Sri Lanka’s Dasun Shanaka welcomed fellow captains Mitchell Marsh (Australia), Paul Stirling (Ireland), Scott Edwards (Netherlands), Salman Ali Agha (Pakistan), Muhammad Waseem (UAE) and Sikandar Raza (Zimbabwe), highlighting the truly global footprint of the tournament.

Co-hosted by India and Sri Lanka, the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026 will run from 7 February to 8 March, featuring 20 teams and 55 matches across eight iconic venues in the two countries. The tournament will begin in Colombo with Pakistan facing the Netherlands, followed by West Indies versus Scotland in Kolkata later the same day. The opening day will culminate in Mumbai, where India take on the USA.
With matches scheduled at premier grounds including the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad, Eden Gardens in Kolkata, Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai and R. Premadasa Stadium in Colombo, the stage is set for a month of fast-paced, high-stakes cricket.
