Romario Shepherd Rips Through Scotland in T20 World Cup: Romario Shepherd produced a sensational burst with the ball to propel West Indies to a commanding 35-run victory over Scotland in their Group C clash of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup at Eden Gardens, Kolkata, on Saturday.
Defending a challenging total of 182, the West Indies looked in control for much of the chase, but it was Shepherd’s devastating spell late in the innings that completely dismantled Scotland’s lower order. The fast bowler struck four times in the space of five deliveries, including a stunning hat-trick, to turn a competitive contest into a one-sided finish.
Scotland were well placed at 132 for five after 16 overs, still within striking distance of the target. Shepherd, however, changed the game instantly. After conceding a single off the first ball of his over, he had Matthew Cross caught at point before Michael Leask fell attempting to clear the ropes. Shepherd then uprooted Oliver Davidson’s off stump to seal his second T20 International hat-trick. Although Safyaan Sharif briefly survived, he perished soon after, offering a straightforward catch at mid-off.

Scotland were eventually bowled out for 147 in 18.5 overs. Shepherd ended with exceptional figures of 5 for 20, while Jason Holder provided strong support with three wickets.
Earlier, West Indies laid the foundation for victory with a solid batting display. Shimron Hetmyer anchored the innings with a fluent 64 off 36 balls, peppering the stands with six towering sixes. His innings ensured the Caribbean side reached a competitive 182 for five, a total that proved beyond Scotland’s reach.
The win strengthened West Indies’ position in Group C and underlined their credentials as serious contenders in the tournament.
