PSL 2025: Quetta Dominate Peshawar Behind Faheem’s 5-for | Quetta Gladiators continued their winning momentum in the HBL PSL with a commanding 64-run victory over Peshawar Zalmi at Lahore’s Gaddafi Stadium on Sunday night, thanks to a sensational bowling performance led by Faheem Ashraf.

The all-rounder delivered a match-winning spell, claiming his second T20 five-wicket haul with figures of 5-33 in just 3.2 overs. His fiery pace dismantled Peshawar’s batting lineup, restricting them to a meager 114 in 15.2 overs while defending a competitive total of 178/7.

Quetta’s Strong Batting Display

Opting to bat first after Zalmi chose to field, Quetta’s top order laid a solid foundation. Openers Saud Shakeel (32 off 26 balls) and Finn Allen (31 off 16) provided a quickfire start with a 46-run partnership. Allen, in particular, was aggressive, smashing four boundaries and two sixes before falling to Saim Ayub (2/24).

Rilee Rossouw (27 off 18) and Kusal Mendis (32 off 27) kept the scoreboard ticking, while Mark Chapman (33 off 26) anchored the middle order. Despite losing wickets at regular intervals, Quetta managed a competitive 178-7, thanks to a late flourish in the final overs. Alzarri Joseph (3/33) was the standout bowler for Zalmi.

Faheem Ashraf Destroys Zalmi’s Chase

In response, Peshawar’s chase never gained momentum as Quetta’s pace attack wreaked havoc. Faheem Ashraf struck early, removing Saim Ayub in the second over. Mohammad Amir then dismissed Zalmi captain Babar Azam (12 off 7), while Mohammad Wasim Jnr cleaned up Tom Kohler-Cadmore, leaving Peshawar reeling at 50/5.

Hussain Talat (39 off 34) offered some resistance, but with no other batter crossing 20, the innings collapsed swiftly. Khurram Shahzad (2/9) and Abrar Ahmed (1) provided excellent support as Peshawar folded for 114. Faheem fittingly wrapped up the innings by taking the final two wickets, sealing a dominant win.

Standings and Takeaways

With this victory, Quetta Gladiators climbed to third place in the standings with three wins in five matches. Meanwhile, Peshawar Zalmi’s struggles continued as they slipped to fifth with just two wins in six games.

Player of the Match: Faheem Ashraf (5/33)

The HBL PSL X takes a break on Monday before resuming with more thrilling encounters. Quetta’s clinical all-round performance, led by Faheem’s brilliance, makes them strong contenders as the tournament progresses.
