Karachi’s Strong Start Sets the Tone

Karachi Kings came out swinging as openers Tim Seifert and David Warner launched an aggressive assault in the powerplay. Warner raced to 31 off just 20 balls, while Seifert smashed 27 at a strike rate of 180, helping Karachi reach 50 in under five overs. Quetta fought back briefly with quick strikes from Abrar Ahmed and Saud Shakeel, but the damage had already been done.

The middle order stuttered as Riazullah (6) and Khushdil Shah (1) fell cheaply, but James Vince steadied the innings with a classy 70 off 47 deliveries. His composed knock, laced with six fours and a six, ensured Karachi stayed on track. Nabi provided late fireworks with two sixes in the death overs, pushing the total to a competitive 175/7.

Quetta’s Chase Crumbles Early

Quetta Gladiators’ chase got off to a disastrous start as Hasan Ali and Mir Hamza dismantled the top order within the powerplay. Finn Allen hit a first-ball six but was dismissed next delivery, setting the tone for a collapse. Hasan Nawaz (1), Khawaja Nafay (1), and Rilee Rossouw (1) all fell cheaply, leaving Quetta reeling at 16/4.

Captain Saud Shakeel fought hard with a patient 33, but with wickets falling at regular intervals, the required run rate spiraled out of control. Mohammad Amir entertained briefly with a fiery 30 off 16 balls, including three sixes, but it was too little, too late. Karachi’s bowlers maintained relentless pressure, with Nabi (2/7) and Hasan Ali (3/27) leading the charge as Quetta limped to 119/9.

Key Performances & Turning Points

  • James Vince’s 70 – The backbone of Karachi’s innings, ensuring stability after early wickets.
  • Hasan Ali & Nabi’s early strikes – Broke Quetta’s chase in the powerplay.

Quetta Gladiators – 119/9 (20 overs)
