In a nail-biting finish at Lord’s, Tom Curran emerged as the hero once again, replicating his heroic performance from last year’s final. The senior Curran brother dazzled with an explosive 11-ball 24, propelling the Oval Invincibles to a competitive total of 147 for 9.

The score was tantalizingly close to the average for men’s games at the venue, setting the stage for a thrilling second half. It required the highest successful chase in The Hundred’s history at Lord’s, leaving both sides with a glimmer of hope.

Southern Brave sought a flying start in the powerplay. James Vince and Alex Davies cautiously took them to 18 without loss after the first 10 balls but struggled to find the acceleration needed to stay ahead of the required rate.

As Adam Zampa prepared to bowl his first set of five, Brave were facing a daunting task: 100 runs needed from 65 balls. Will Jacks stepped up with the ball, delivering a crucial blow by dismissing James Vince. Nathan Sowter followed suit, removing James Coles and tightening the screws on the chase.

Despite the mounting pressure, Du Plooy and Evans reignited Brave’s hopes with a spirited partnership, bringing the equation down to 53 needed from 30 balls. However, the return of Saqib Mahmood to the attack spelled disaster for Brave. Mahmood’s precision and pace were too much to handle as he claimed three vital wickets in quick succession, extinguishing Brave’s hopes and securing the Hundred trophy for Oval Invincibles.

Curran’s all-round performance, coupled with Mahmood’s deadly spell, ensured that the Invincibles lifted the coveted trophy, capping off a thrilling season with a memorable victory.
