“No Cricket With Pakistan!” BCCI Draws Line After Kashmir Terror Attack: The Indian Premier League (IPL) has once again captured the attention of cricket fans worldwide, with its thrilling matches and star-studded performances. However, amidst the excitement of the tournament, a tragic terrorist attack in Pahalgam, Kashmir, on April 22 has cast a shadow over the sporting world. The attack, which claimed the lives of 28 civilians, has reignited tensions between India and Pakistan, further straining their already fragile cricketing relations.

Following the attack, Rajeev Shukla, Vice-President of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), made it clear that India will not engage in any bilateral cricket with Pakistan. Shukla condemned the terror attack and reiterated that the BCCI will follow the Indian government’s directives on cricketing ties with Pakistan.

“We stand with the victims and strongly condemn this act of terror. Our government’s stance is clear, and we will adhere to it. India does not play bilateral cricket with Pakistan, and that will not change in the future,” Shukla stated.

While bilateral series remain off the table, India and Pakistan continue to face each other in ICC tournaments due to the International Cricket Council’s (ICC) regulations. Shukla acknowledged that India has no choice but to participate in these matches but emphasized that the ICC is aware of the geopolitical tensions.

“In ICC events, we play Pakistan because of our commitments to the global cricketing body. However, the ICC understands the situation, and necessary measures will be taken,” he added.

India and Pakistan last played a bilateral series in 2012, and since then, political tensions have kept cricketing relations frozen. The recent terror attack has only reinforced India’s firm stance against resuming cricketing ties outside of ICC events.

The next high-profile encounter between the two nations will be in the Women’s World Cup, where the Indian and Pakistani teams are scheduled to compete. The match will be closely watched, not just for its sporting significance but also for the diplomatic undertones surrounding it.
