IPL 2025: Mumbai Make It 2/2 With Clinical Chase Over Hyderabad | Mumbai Indians (MI) secured a convincing four-wicket victory over Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) in Match 33 of IPL 2025 at the Wankhede Stadium, successfully chasing down a modest target of 163 with 11 balls to spare.

SRH Stumble After Promising Start

Opting to bat first, SRH began strongly with Abhishek Sharma (40 off 28) and Travis Head (28 off 29) putting up a 59-run opening stand. However, Hardik Pandya broke the partnership by dismissing Abhishek, triggering a middle-order collapse. Will Jacks contributed with the ball, removing Ishan Kishan cheaply, while Head squandered a reprieve after a no-ball, falling soon after.

Heinrich Klaasen (37 off 28) provided some resistance, but SRH struggled to accelerate, managing only 162/6. A late assault by Aniket Verma and Pat Cummins—who hammered 22 runs off Pandya’s final over—gave Hyderabad a fighting total.

MI’s Balanced Chase Seals the Win

In reply, MI’s top and middle order fired collectively. Rohit Sharma (31 off 23) started aggressively before falling to Cummins, while Ryan Rickelton (26 off 16) kept the momentum going. Will Jacks (38 off 29) and Suryakumar Yadav (26 off 15) steadied the innings with a crucial 40-run partnership.

Despite Suryakumar’s dismissal, Hardik Pandya (21* off 9) finished the chase in style, smashing boundaries to wrap up the game in the 19th over. SRH’s bowlers, including Cummins (2/28), lacked penetration as MI cruised to victory.

Key Takeaways

  • SRH’s Batting Woes: Apart from Abhishek and Klaasen, the middle order faltered, failing to capitalize on the start.
  • MI’s Depth: Contributions from multiple batters ensured a smooth chase, showcasing their balanced lineup.
  • Hardik’s All-Round Show: Despite expensive bowling figures, his crucial wicket and quick cameo proved decisive.

With this win, MI strengthened their playoff hopes, while SRH’s inconsistencies continued to haunt them.
