The Irish skipper reveals her favourite Pakistan players:
The Ireland team is in Lahore to play a three match ODI and T20i series. It is the first instance of an Irish team touring Pakistan. The series will commence from Friday and will culminate on 16th November.
Talking to the ICA Sports, Laura Delany shared her cricketing journey.
Laura revealed that she was a cricket fanatic since her childhood and her father helped him to pursue a career in the game.
Talking about her debut game, the Irish captain said that she made her ODI debut in 2010 in a against New Zealand. She further said that she was slightly nervous but playing against the likes of New Zealand, she enjoyed her debut so much.
Sharing her favourite moment from her cricket journey so far, the 29-year-old picked up the last over she bowled against the Netherlands in 2013 in qualifiers – making sure her team qualified for the ICC T20 World Cup for the very first time.
Laura cherished the opportunity of playing against Pakistan as it will boost their morale and they will be able to understand their opponents well.
It is because the Women T20 World Cup is next year in South Africa and both Pakistan and Ireland are placed in the same group.
Laura further hailed the up and coming stars in her group and termed Amy Hunter to watch out for.
The Irish captain also revealed how she played hockey but her love for cricket overpowered any other profession. Moreover, she said cricket is a brilliant sport, it brings different people together, and challenges you as a person. Also, it’s a wonderful experience to travel to different countries to play this sport.
Talking about her first tour of Pakistan, she said her whole team is excited and also lavished praise at the hospitality being provided. She was also excited to have Pakistani food as being a food fanatic. The all-rounder further stated her wish to feature in the Women’s League.
Lastly, Laura revealed her favourite players from both Pakistan men and women team – naming Babar Azam and Nida Dar in this regard.
