Why does Sarfaraz Ahmed feel Pakistan has an edge over India in Asia Cup 2022?
Former Pakistan captain Sarfaraz Ahmed believes that Pakistan’s squad will have the advantage over India when the two teams meet in Dubai next week.
Team India will play arch-rivals Pakistan on August 28 in the Asia Cup 2022 in Dubai, a little over a week from now. This will be the first meeting between Rohit Sharma’s India and Babar Azam’s Pakistan since their T20 World Cup 2021 match, in which India lost by 10 wickets.
Team India has experienced a great run in the shortest version of the game after the conclusion of the IPL 2022, defeating England and West Indies on the road while drawing 2-2 with South Africa at home (the decider match was abandoned due to rain). Pakistan, on the other hand, has only played one T20I in 2022 (against Australia in April), losing by three wickets.

However, former Pakistani captain Sarfaraz Ahmed feels his team would have the advantage over India. Sarfaraz believes India has performed well in recent months, but Pakistan has a greater understanding of the conditions in the UAE.
“The first game of any tournament sets the tone for the entire competition. Our opening match is against India. Certainly, our morale would be better because Pakistan defeated India at the same venue the previous time they met. Pakistan is familiar with the conditions because they have played PSL and other home series here. Yes, India has played in the IPL here, but their experience in these conditions is limited,” stated Sarfraz Ahmad in interaction with Sports Paktv.
Pakistan sealed the three-match ODI series against the Netherlands with a seven-wicket victory in the second ODI on Thursday (August 18). On Thursday, India defeated Zimbabwe by ten wickets in the first one-day international.
