Watch: Fan invaded the pitch to hug Mohammad Rizwan during the second ODI:
During the second ODI match between Pakistan and New Zealand, which like other matches of the tour, was taking place at the National Bank Cricket Arena Karachi, a bizarre event took place which halted the progress of the match.
During New Zealand’s batting, a fan invaded the ground to hug Pakistan’s wicket-keeper batter, Mohammad Rizwan. Although the security at the ground acted instantly and dragged the young fan out of the ground, he was successful in meeting Rizwan. This invasion by the fan stopped the match for a while and the fan was taken into custody by the police for breaching the security.
An event similar to this happened a few months back, in June at the Multan Stadium, when the second ODI match between Pakistan and West Indies was underway. A crazy fan intruded the ground to embrace and salute the on-crease batter, Shadab Khan who embraced him back. The supporter, however, was escorted off the ground by the security force immediately and ended up getting an FIR lodged in his name.

The aforementioned match, between Pakistan and Kiwis, ended with Pakistan missing out on the victory by 79 runs after the hosts’ batting lineup collapsed in front of New Zealand’s tweakers on the tricky pitch. This victory has helped New Zealand level the series 1-1 and the final ODI on friday will decide who lifts the trophy.
