Watch: Ashton Agar gets air-borne to save a certain six with his dexterity:
The arch-rivals England and Australia did not waste any time to start their ODI encounters following the conclusion of the T20 World cup. Both nations are scheduled to play a 3 match ODI series in Australia.
English cricketer, Dawid Malan, came to his side’s rescue after the rest of the top-order collapsed in the first ODI of the series. The left hander helped his side put a respectable total of 287 runs on board by playing a commendable knock of 134 runs. His innings was adorned with 12 fours and 4 maximums. Had it not been for Ashton Agar, Malan’s sixes could have been a number greater.
Australian all-rounder, Ashton Agar exhibited his superhuman skills to play spoilsport when the 35 year old English batter was on-strike with 131 runs on board. It all happened on the final ball of the 45th over which was delivered as a short ball by the Aussies skipper, Pat Cummins. Grabbing the opportunity, Dawid Malan got the ball airborne over deep mid-wicket for what looked like a certain six. Little did he know, Ashton Agar will defy the laws of gravity and disrespect his beautifully hit shot to get only 1 run.
The Kangaroos’ all rounder jumped over the rope and caught the ball with one hand whilst he was still in the air. Before he touched the ground, he used his left hand to thrash the ball away from the boundary. His heroic effort saved Australia a total of 5 runs and earned him praises from around the world.

Fans on twitter went berserk after witnessing this unbelievable save. Everybody had but words of appreciation for Agar’s extraordinary effort to stop the ball from falling on the other side of the rope.
Interestingly, Malan was sent back to the pavilion after a few balls when the Australian cricketer caught him on Adam Zampa’s delivery. Although, the English cricketer’s century ended up in losing cause, he was awarded with man of the match award. The next match between both teams is set to be played tomorrow in Sydney.
