The Hundred 2022: All you need to know including squads and schedule
After being initially delayed by a year in 2020 due to the global COVID-19 pandemic and having a successful inaugural season in 2021, the Hundred returns for another season this summer beginning on the 3rd of August. In this article, you will find all the answers related to this domestic tournament.
What is It?
The Hundred is the newest format in Cricket comprising 100 balls per inning. Ten balls are bowled from each end before the fielding side alternates, with the option for bowlers to deliver five or 10 consecutive balls. It involves eight different franchises and each franchise will have to compete against each of the other seven franchises throughout the tournament, and one additional match. Each team gets four home games and four away games. The top 3 teams from the group stage qualify for the next stage with the topper fetting a direct spot in the final whereas the 2nd and 3rd position holders play an eliminator to fight for a place in the final.
When is it?
The Hundred will run throughout the month of August with the first game on Wednesday, August 3rd and the final scheduled to take place exactly a month later on Saturday, September 3rd, with 34 different matches to be played over the course of the whole month.
