Shubman Gill in the League of legends like Tendulkar, Kohli?
Shubman Gill the right-handed batsman from India is known for his penchant for big runs and was hence drafted into India’s Under-19 side as the vice-captain for the 2018 World Cup. He made his debut before that for Punjab in the Ranji Trophy in 2017 with a magnificent half-century and an attacking 129 runs in the next match.
Shubman Gill slammed a phenomenal century against Australia on day 3 of the ongoing last test at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. Gill started the day with positive intent and reached the 70s in no time. It all ended on a positive note as he hit his second career hundred and the first one at his home ground.
Gill completed his sensational century in just 195 deliveries. The knock consisted of 10 boundaries and a maximum. One thing worth noting was the way Shubman Gill middled almost every delivery. Whether it was Starc steaming in, or Lyon’s consistency, Gill’s footwork was on point the whole time.
Not only this, the Youngster accomplished a major milestone on 22 August 2022 by scoring his first One Day International (ODI) century for the Indian National Team. The match was held in Harare, Zimbabwe.
Shubman became the fastest batsman to score 1000 ODI runs achieving the feat in just 19 innings and left the greats like Virat Kohli, Sachin Tendulkar, and Rohit Sharma behind.
Gill has equaled the record with the Pakistani star batsman Imam-ul-Haq who has also taken 19 innings to achieve the record. But Fakhar Zaman is still in the first place as he is the fastest Asian to achieve this record.
Shubman Gill also became the youngest batsman to score 3 centuries beating Virat Kohli and KL Rahul.
After watching these sensational performances from Gill, Former Indian Captain Sunil Gavaskar says that Gill can score 8000-10,000 runs in test cricket if he manages to keep his career in the right direction.
