PCB raises retainers and match fees in domestic contracts for 2022–2023:
Details of the domestic contracts for 2022–2023 were released by the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), which were approved by the Board of Governor (BoG) at its 70th meeting on Saturday.
The names of the players will be released in due course, and the contracts will last from September 2022 to August 2023.
The cricket board raised the domestic retainers once more after Mr. Ramiz Raja, who was elected as the 34th PCB Chairman last September, announced an increase of PKR 100,000 in retainers across all five categories.
The biggest improvement, however, is in the match fees, which have increased in order to draw top cricketers and encourage them to maintain high standards in order to remain in the domestic contract categories.
Match fees for the Quaid-e-Azam Trophy have increased from PKR60,000 to PKR100,000. Match fees for the Pakistan Cup and National T20 have increased from PKR40,000 to PKR60,000. In the red-ball and white-ball matches, the non-playing participants will now receive PKR40,000 (up by PKR16,000), and PKR20,000, respectively (up by PKR4,000).
Match fees for the non-first-class four-day Cricket Associations Championship have increased from PKR25,000 to PKR40,000, while match fees for the white-ball Cricket Associations Challenge and CA T20 have gone up from PKR15,000 to PKR25,000. The non-playing competitors in the red- and white-ball games will receive PKR15,000 and PKR10,000, respectively.

To make these earnings, players must maintain fitness levels and perform consistently in National T20, Quaid-e-Azam Trophy, and Pakistan Cup league matches.
These are projected numbers based on 30 league matches across three major PCB events, without prize money. The Quaid-e-Azam Trophy has a total prize pool of PKR17million, with the winner receiving PKR10million. The Pakistan Cup champion will earn PKR5million from a PKR9.3million purse, and the National T20 champion will earn PKR5million from a PKR8.7million pool.
Players in the CA Championship (four-day non-first-class), CA Challenge (50-over), and CA T20 will earn around PKR1.14million in match fees and daily allowances. When players’ monthly retainers are added to these numbers, it becomes a massive figure and should motivate them to do better and aspire to play in the three major events, which will boost their earnings and bring them closer to national team selections.
