Narayan Jagadeesan topples the record books:
During the clash between the Indian domestic sides Tamil Nadu and Arunachal Pradesh various records were broken citing the thumping performance of Tamil Nadu.
In the ongoing Vijay Hazare Trophy, Tamil batsman Narayan Jagadeesan made waves and was able to shatter the record books.
Moreover, Narayan took 114 balls to achieve the landmark of 200 runs – which is the joint-fastest List A double hundred. He shares this achievement with Australia’s Travis Head who took as many balls to achieve the similar feat against Queensland in 2021.
Furthermore, the batter has struck five consecutive centuries in the ongoing Vijay Trophy which is most by any batsman in the List-A games.
He broke the record of legendary Kumar Sangakkara, South Africa’s Alviro Petersen and Indian star Devdutt Padikkal who notched-up four consecutive centuries to their name in the List-A cricket.
Besides achieving a handful of individual records, the belligerent knock of Narayan helped Tamil to break the team’s record as well.
Firstly, the opening stand between Sai Sudharsan and Jagadeesan helped Tamil to construct a record-breaking 416-run opening stand. Previously, the record was held by the West Indies batsmen Chris Gayle and Marlon Samuels.
While batting first, Tamil posted a total of 506/2 which is the highest target set by any team in List-A cricket.
Chasing an improbable target, Arunachal Pradesh were bundled out of only 71. The 435-run victory by Tamil means now they hold the record for the largest margin of victories by runs in List A cricket as well.
