ICC GM Wasim Khan Honors Aleem Dar, Applauds his services:
The world of cricket honoured one of its most respected umpires, Aleem Dar, on April 29, 2023. Dar who has officiated in 387 international matches across all three formats of the game, was honored in his last game as an ICC Panel Umpire by the International Cricket Council’s (ICC) General Manager for Cricket, Wasim Khan.
The ICC General Manager Wasim Khan is the first South Asian to hold the position of ICC General Manager for Cricket.
On the day of Dar’s final appearance as an umpire, Wasim Khan presented him with an ICC plaque.
Wasim Khan’s contribution to the cricket administration includes his role as Chief Executive of the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB). During his tenure, he was instrumental in bringing Test cricket back to Pakistan after a decade-long hiatus due to security concerns. Under his leadership, the entire Pakistan Super League also returned to the country and a huge amount of work was achieved in re-establishing Pakistan’s credibility in the world game.

Wasim Khan himself is a respected and highly competent individual in the world game. He become the first British born Pakistani professional cricketer in England in 1990 and was the only Black, or South Asian CEO across any professional sporting club in the UK. He was also the first overseas to be appointed CEO of the PCB.
His work in setting up the Chance to Shine charitable campaign inspired over 2 million boys and girls to play the game, raising £55 million in the process and for which he received an MBE. His autobiography Brim Full of Passion was voted Wisden Book of the Year in 2006.
