Gill’s double ton gets him into the club of Elite batters:
Indian batters piling up runs in the 50 over format of the game in the World cup year is definitely giving other teams sleepless nights. The runs, however, from the blade of the blue team’s batters have not stopped flowing yet.
It was India’s young batting sensation, Shubman Gill, this time who ended up scoring myriads of runs. In the first ODI against the Kiwis in Hyderabad, the 23 year old thwacked the NZ batters and scored a double ton while striking at the rate of 139. The way Gill played against the Black Caps’ bowlers, surprised no one considering the purple patch he has been enjoying of late.
With this double hundred, the young Indian batsman has joined the 7-member club of batters who have double centuries next to their names in the men’s One Day Internationals.
