‘Class meets class’, twitter reacts to Babar Azam and Sunil Gavaskar’s meetup:
At a private party hosted by Pakistan team’s newly appointed mentor, Mathew Hayden, Sunil Gavaskar and Pakistan team players were invited.
A video of Babar Azam and other Pakistan batsmen meeting India’s great Sunil Gavaskar during the party was shared on twitter by the Pakistan Cricket Board. Twitter users, especially from India and Pakistan, went crazy over the video.
Many fans took to twitter and praised the humility with which Babar Azam met Sunil Gavaskar. Tweeters were quick to note the respectful gesture from the 28-year old who had his hands folded behind his back while talking to India’s little master.
Talking about this gesture by the Right-handed batsman, a twitter user called him the true ambassador of Pakistan cricket.
Some twitter users expressed their glee at the way cricket has brought two great players from archrival nations, Pakistan and India, together.
Sunil Gavaskar shared some batting tips with the Pakistan batsmen, which was found as a very heartwarming token by many fans.
Further, India’s former captain presented Babar with his signed ‘Sunny cap’ as a belated birthday gift for him. As told by Gavaskar himself, this ‘Sunny cap’ is presented by him to only a lucky few people.
Pakistan and India’s rivalry is not news to anyone. However, being a gentleman’s game, cricket has helped players from both nations to establish bonds of respect for each other.
Both India and Pakistan are due to meet on 23rd October at the Melbourne Cricket Ground, to play their first match of the T20 World Cup 2022.
