Kiwis announce the squad for T20s against India:
Blackcaps is currently busy playing Pakistan at the latter’s home venue after which they will travel to the country next door, India, for three ODIs and as many T20Is. For the T20 series, the Black Caps have named their 15-man squad which will be led by the veteran all-rounder, Mitchell Santner, as both Kane Williamson and Tim Southee have opted out of the series.
Uncapped New Zealand left arm pacer, Ben Lister, has been given a maiden call up to join the team for the tour after his brilliant outings in the Super Smash for Auckland. The NZ selector Gavin Larsen revealed that the pacer’s ability to swing the ball is what landed him in the team.
“Ben has made an exciting impact for Auckland early in his career in red and white ball cricket. Since his debut in late 2017, he is the Aces’ [Auckland Aces] leading wicket taker in T20 and List A cricket. His ability to swing the ball considerably as a left-armer is particularly exciting. We all felt for Ben after his tour ended the way it did last year, and it’s a testament to his work ethic that he’s been able to return to domestic cricket so strongly this season.”
