BCCI announces gleeful news for the Indian women:
On Thursday, the secretary of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), Jay Shah announced cheerful news that is being highly valued by the cricketers and fans equally.
Jay Shah, in a tweet, said that the Indian Women’s team will be paid the same appearance fees as their male counterparts, as the Board has announced a ‘pay equity policy’.
Under this policy, the centrally-contracted women player will earn INR 15 lakh for a Test, 6 lakh for an ODI and 3 lakh for a T20I.
This news was warmly and fervently received by the women’s team as former captain Mithali Raj, Harmanpreet Kaur, Yastika Bhatia, and Jemimah Rodrigues penned down tweets in this regard.
It is evident that like many other countries, India too is making leaps in the right direction for women’s cricket.
In recent times, Team India has shown massive achievements – bagged silver medals at CommonWealth games, followed by a memorable ODI white wash in England and then clinching up the Asia Cup title, earlier this month.
