With the Abu Dhabi T10 league set to begin in just under two months’ time, the player draft for the tournament took place on Monday, 26th of September and the squads of all eight teams were finalized. In this article, you will find everything that you need to know about the T10 league.
What is It?
The Abu Dhabi T10 is a ten overs a side tournament held each year in the United Arab Emirates. It was first held in 2017 and has then been staged in the UAE every year since its inception. This will therefore be the sixth edition of this league and will take place at the Sheikh Zayed Stadium from 23rd of November to 4th of December this year.
Format and Dates:
The league is played on a group stage basis where all the teams face each other twice, with the four top teams to qualify for the play-offs which involve three games consisting of two qualifiers and one eliminator. The first qualifier is played between the top two teams, with the winner going straight to the final, whereas the losing team gets another chance to qualify for the final by playing the winner of the eliminator.
The eliminator is played between the third and fourth ranked teams, with the loser being eliminated and the winner progressing to the second qualifier, where they face the loser of the first qualifier. The final is then played among the winners of both the qualifier matches.
The same format is being used in various leagues across the world such as the PSL and the IPL, and while it may sound complex, in reality it is quite easy to follow and provides the fans with some quality cricket and entertainment.
This year it will be the sixth edition of the league, and it will be played from 23rd of November to 4th of December at the Sheikh Zayed Cricket Stadium in Abu Dhabi.
