Fakhar Zaman Bold Statement After Pakistan’s Loss to NZ: Pakistan’s opening batsman, Fakhar Zaman, shared his thoughts after the national team suffered a 78-run defeat to New Zealand in the first match of the tri-nation ODI series at Gaddafi Stadium. Despite the loss, Fakhar remained optimistic and emphasized that personal milestones were not his primary concern.

“Of course, losing is disappointing, but I’m not worried about missing out on a century,” Fakhar stated during the post-match press conference. His innings of 84 runs was the highest score for Pakistan, but it wasn’t enough to chase down New Zealand’s formidable total of 330/6.

Fakhar also took a moment to express his gratitude for the warm welcome he received upon his return to the squad after a brief absence. “I was away from the team for a while, and I’m truly thankful for the love and support I got from my teammates and fans when I came back,” he said. His return to the side was marked by a solid performance, which he hopes to build on in the upcoming matches.

Reflecting on the game, Fakhar shared his experience of watching the match unfold from the dressing room. “It was a unique and enjoyable experience to see the game from that perspective,” he remarked. He also praised New Zealand captain Kane Williamson for his composed innings, which played a pivotal role in setting up a challenging target for Pakistan. “Kane Williamson played a brilliant knock and took the game forward in a way that really benefited his team,” Fakhar acknowledged.

Despite the loss, Fakhar reassured fans that the team remains focused on the ongoing series, even as excitement builds for the upcoming Champions Trophy. “We’re definitely looking forward to the Champions Trophy, but right now, our priority is this series. We’re fully focused on performing well in these matches,” he said.

When asked about Babar Azam’s recent form, Fakhar expressed unwavering confidence in his teammate’s abilities. “Babar Azam is a class act. He has his own style, and I’m sure he’ll deliver in the coming games,” Fakhar said, backing Pakistan’s star batter to bounce back strongly.

New Zealand’s victory was anchored by Glenn Phillips’ unbeaten century (106*) and a solid contribution from Daryl Mitchell (81), which propelled them to a competitive total. Mitchell Santner’s all-round performance, including a three-wicket haul (3/41), and Matt Henry’s 3/53 ensured Pakistan fell short in their chase. Despite Fakhar’s 84, Salman Ali Agha’s 40, and Tayyab Tahir’s 30, Pakistan were bowled out for 254.

For Pakistan, Shaheen Shah Afridi (3/88) and Abrar Ahmed (2/41) were the standout bowlers, but their efforts weren’t enough to contain New Zealand’s batting lineup. The visitors’ comprehensive performance gave them a strong start to the series.

New Zealand will next face South Africa in the second match of the tri-nation series at Gaddafi Stadium on Monday, while Pakistan will take on South Africa on Wednesday at the National Bank Stadium in Karachi. The upcoming matches promise to be crucial as teams vie for momentum ahead of the Champions Trophy.

Fakhar’s resilience and team-first attitude reflect Pakistan’s determination to bounce back in the series. With key players like Babar Azam expected to step up, fans remain hopeful for a strong response in the games to come.
