“Our aim has been to create an unparalleled experience for everyone involved,” said Naqvi. “The upgrades reflect our commitment to making Gaddafi Stadium a symbol of excellence in cricket.” Completed in just five months, the renovation project has significantly enhanced the infrastructure, ensuring comfort and functionality for players, officials, media, and spectators.
The renovation project introduced several modern features:
- Enhanced Seating and Digital Displays: New, ergonomic seating has been installed, offering better comfort and improved sightlines. A cutting-edge digital screen has been set up, with a second one nearing completion.
- Advanced Floodlighting: The floodlight towers now feature upgraded bulbs, delivering enhanced visibility for both players and fans during evening matches.
- Improved Facilities: While details are awaited, upgraded amenities for players and media are expected to set new benchmarks for cricket venues in the region.
The finishing touches are being applied, and the stadium is expected to be ready within ten days. Once handed over to the PCB, it will host the Pakistan, New Zealand, and South Africa tri-series as a prelude to the Champions Trophy.

The first Champions Trophy match at Gaddafi Stadium is scheduled for February 22, 2025, featuring a thrilling showdown between England and Australia. The tournament will kick off on February 19 with Pakistan playing New Zealand in Karachi, while the much-anticipated clash between Pakistan and India will take place on February 23 in Dubai.
Pakistan is set to host 10 matches during the tournament. Four matches, including India’s group-stage games and the first semi-final, are scheduled in Dubai. The grand final is planned for Lahore unless logistical considerations necessitate relocating it to Dubai if India qualifies.
