Mohsin Naqvi to take over Jay Shah as president of ACC for the next two year
Mohsin Naqvi to take over Jay Shah as president of Asian Cricket Council for the next two years: Mohsin Naqvi is set to become the next president of the Asian Cricket Council (ACC), marking a significant moment for Pakistan. The Chairman of the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) will take on this role following a decision made at the ACC meeting in Bali, which took place in January 2024.
With this decision, Pakistan has been given the responsibility of chairing the ACC, with Naqvi’s presidency due to commence in January 2025. The new president will hold office for two years, overseeing the council’s projects and initiatives throughout the continent.
During the same meeting, Jay Shah, the current ACC president, received a one-year extension to his term, ensuring a seamless leadership transition until the new president officially takes over.
In addition to his role at the PCB, Mohsin Naqvi also serves as the Interior Minister. With his upcoming presidency at the ACC, he will be managing three significant roles.
Recently, former cricket star Shahid Afridi expressed concerns about Naqvi’s dual positions, suggesting that he may lack adequate knowledge of cricket.
Meanwhile, the Pakistan team faced an early exit from the T20 World Cup 2024 and is now gearing up for the Asia Cup 2024. However, reports indicate that the Indian team may not travel to Pakistan for the event.
