An All Round Show by Will Jacks helps the Oval Invincibles clinch a win in the London Derby

An All Round Show by Will Jacks helps the Oval Invincibles clinch a win in the London Derby: In another last ball thriller at the Hundred, after some intense drama, the Oval Invincibles managed to defeat their rivals London Spirit by just 2 runs, making their position at the top of the table more secure.

Having won the toss, the Invincibles captain Sam Curran decided to bat first on a pitch which seemed to behave slow at first as the Invincibles had a quiet start to their innings with both openers Will Jacks and Jason Roy failing to score any runs from the first set of five deliveries. Will Jacks then took the charge as both batters kept the scoreboard going, putting on a good partnership of 79 runs for the first wicket before Daryll Mitchell dismissed Jason Roy on the first ball after being brought into the attack.

Will Jacks continued his aggressive style of play and was well supported on the other end by the South African Heinrich Klassen before he was also dismissed by Daryll Mitchell. Klassen also thrashed 46 not out and Sam Curran added a blistering 35 off just 17 deliveries as the Oval Invincibles ended their innings on 189/4, setting the Spirits 190 to win.

The London Spirits began their innings aggressively as Rossington reached his half-century off just 22 deliveries and the Spirits were 58/0 after the Powerplay. However, Zak Crawley, on the other hand, struggled to get going and was dismissed by Sam Curran as he scored 19 off 21 deliveries.

The Spirits then began to lose the plot as they started losing quick wickets with Will Jacks also shining with the ball after producing fireworks with the bat as he claimed two quick wickets.
The Spirits chase was further dented by the spin duo of Adam Zampa and Nathan Sowter as they claimed three wickets between them before Matt Critchely struck a few blows and brought Spirits back into the game, leaving 17 runs to get off the final set of 5 deliveries.

The final set was bowled by Sam Curran and the match turning moment came on the third ball when Ross Whiteley saved what would have been a definite six pushing the ball back into play from the air flying behind the boundary.

With six now required of the last ball, Critchley failed to hit the ball over the boundary and the whole invincibles team started celebrating before there was more drama as Curran had overstepped which meant that the Spirits got another chance to win the game however the visitors failed to make use as the Invincibles came out victorious by just 2 runs in the end.
