A Thriller Ends in a Tie at the Kia Oval | The Hundred:

A thrilling knock from Tom Curran (38 off 18) at the Kia Oval on Sunday helped the Oval Invincibles pull off a tie against the Welsh Fire in front of a sold-out crowd.

Welsh Fire, having won the toss, decided to bat first and were off to a good start as the openers Joe Clarke and Luke Wells put on 32 from 15 balls until Gus Atkinson came into the attack and took three wickets in his first ten balls as Welsh fire were now 43/4.

Fifty was brought up in forty balls for the Welsh Fire as David Willey slowly rebuilt the innings with Joe Clarke, but ultimately, David Willey was also dismissed by Zak Chappel as he edged one behind to keeper Sam Billings, leaving the Welsh fire at 70/5.

The Welsh Fire then recovered well to finish the innings on 138 for 6 courtesy of a partnership of 58 from 36 balls between Green and Clarke. Tom Curran, who took 2 for 27, was the main standout bowler for the Inncibles.

The chase began and Shaheen Shah Afridi was phenomenal with the new ball as he picked up the big wicket of Jason Roy on the first ball of the second innings.

The Oval Invincible batsmen made full use of the powerplay as, even after the early dismissal of Jason Roy, both Jordan cox and Will Jacks continued to play aggressively, having scored 38 runs at the end of the powerplay.

Rauf was brought into the attack after the powerplay, but both the batters kept the flow of runs going for the Oval Invincibles before Relof Van Der Merwe was brought into the attack and he got rid of  Will jacks as he chipped one towards long off and Ben green took an easy catch.

Meanwhile, on the other hand, Jordan Cox reached his half century from 39 balls but it was soon after this that trouble began as Welsh Fire had a collapse as Green then took two wickets in five balls, dismissing Klassen and Sam Curran.

The game then came down to the wire as 13 were required from five when Tom Curran hit a 102m six off Payne that flew out of the stadium.
The equation came down to 4 of 2, at which point Sunil Narine was runout and then, with 3 required off the last ball, the athleticism of Tom Curran snatched a tie for which he was also declared the Hero of the Match as he praised the 21,432 fans at the Kia Oval and said that he was happy with the end result of a tie.
