Sarfaraz Ahmed Left Out of Pakistan’s XI for 1st Test vs Bangladesh

Sarfaraz Ahmed Left Out of Pakistan’s XI for 1st Test vs Bangladesh: Pakistan, under the captaincy of Shan Masood, has revealed their playing eleven for the first Test match against Bangladesh, scheduled to take place in Rawalpindi. In a notable decision, Saim Ayub is set to open the innings alongside Abdullah Shafique. Mohammad Rizwan has been selected as the wicketkeeper-batter, edging out the experienced Sarfaraz Ahmed.

With speculations that the Rawalpindi pitch will favor seam bowlers, Pakistan has included four pacers in their squad. Shaheen Afridi is poised to lead the bowling attack, supported by Naseem Shah, Mohammad Ali, and Khurram Shahzad.

Interestingly, Pakistan has opted not to include a frontline spinner in their playing XI. Instead, vice-captain Saud Shakeel and Salman Ali Agha are available to provide part-time spin options if required. This strategic move indicates Pakistan’s confidence in their pace attack and the anticipation of a seamer-friendly pitch.

Babar Azam, Pakistan’s star batter, will continue to play at the crucial number four position. The team’s aggressive intent is clear, aiming to capitalize on the result-oriented pitch conditions in Rawalpindi.

Here is Pakistan’s playing XI for the first Test against Bangladesh:

  1. Shan Masood (C)
  2. Abdullah Shafique
  3. Saim Ayub
  4. Babar Azam
  5. Saud Shakeel (VC)
  6. Mohammad Rizwan (WK)
  7. Salman Ali Agha
  8. Shaheen Shah Afridi
  9. Naseem Shah
  10. Khurram Shahzad
  11. Mohammad Ali

The inclusion of Saim Ayub as an opener also highlights the team’s willingness to experiment and invest in new talent.

The choice to field four pacers indicates Pakistan’s reliance on their fast bowlers to exploit the Rawalpindi pitch conditions. Shaheen Afridi, with his experience and skill, will spearhead the attack, and the combination of Naseem Shah, Mohammad Ali, and Khurram Shahzad provides a balanced and potent pace unit.
