Rainy Weather: A Big Threat in Asia Cup 2023 Super 4 Stage

Rainy Weather: A Big Threat in the Asia Cup 2023 Super 4 Stage | Colombo is expected to encounter a week of inclement weather, with rain showers anticipated throughout the week. These rain showers could potentially impact outdoor activities, including the Asia Cup matches, as the timing and duration of the rain showers may fluctuate.

The Indian Express is reporting that discussions are happening about potentially moving the Asia Cup games. They’re considering keeping the tournament in Pallekele or shifting it to Dambulla due to the heavy rain in Colombo. The final decision is expected to be made within the next two days. The Asian Cricket Council is considering Dambulla or Hambantota as backup venues. They’re just being prepared in case the weather doesn’t cooperate.

In the Asia Cup 2023 Super 4 matches, five games will be held in Colombo, while one match is scheduled in Lahore. The final match will also take place in Colombo. One match, which was highly anticipated between India and Pakistan, was already called off because of rain. Pakistani journalist and ex-PCB chairman Najam Sethi was super angry at the ACC for having matches in Sri Lanka.

How disappointing. Rain mars the greatest contest in cricket. But this was forecast. As PCB Chair, I urged the ACC to play in the UAE, but poor excuses were made to accommodate Sri Lanka. Too hot in Dubai, they said. But it was as hot as when the Asia Cup was played there last time in September 2022 or when the IPL was played there in April 2014 and September 2020. Politics over sport Unforgivable

On September 4th, India will be facing Nepal in Pallekele, but there are concerns about rain potentially disrupting the match again. Reports indicate that the rain threat could impact the tournament’s progress in the upcoming week. It is already raining cats and dogs in Colombo, and the weather will be the same for a week. Rain is playing hide and seek, and if venues do not change, it will affect the whole tournament just like the India-Pakistan match was affected.
