Shahid Afridi raises question on position of Wasim Akram in Karachi Kings:
In an interview to a private channel, Shahid Afridi advised Wasim Akarm to own and focus on his franchise Karachi Kings, if he actually wants Karachi Kings to be on the winning side at the end of the day.
The festivities of PSL 2023 started from February 13 and Karachi Kings wasn’t able to grab even a single victory out of first three matches. During all these matches the management as well as the captain Imad Wasim seemed somewhat disoriented as the team combination was kept changing but all these efforts weren’t able to make Karachi Kings grab a single victory.
Karachi lost its first match against Peshawar Zalmi by 2 runs. Then Islamabad United won by 4 wickets against Karachi Kings. This loosing streak continued in the third match as Quetta Gladiator defeated Karachi Kings by 6 runs even after a very slow start.
On this disappointing performance at the start of the tournament, Shahid Afridi advised Wasim Akarm , the Sultan of Swing, to play his role in shaping a quality team with right combination by playing his mentoring role throughout the year.

Answering the question asked about Wasim Akram’s involvement in the team selection and performance Shahid Afridi Said,
“Professionalism demands punctuality. Mentoring is a 24/7 job and when you’ve taken the responsibility of a particular franchise then you should give full time to your team leaving all your other businesses aside.”
He further said that his impact should be huge because if we’re seeing a legend like Wasim Akram in the dugout , then there should be the manifestation of his experience in the team as well. It is not the right approach to join the team at the time of PSL only but the mentoring process should revolve around the year.
Inzamam-ul-Huq , who was also the part of that show applauded Afridi’s point of view and gave an example of Multan Sultan’s administration and management and their impact in the ground as well. He said Multan Sultan’s performance is always clinical because of their complete homework that they continue to do round the year. It should be noted that Multan Sultan is on top of table of the ongoing PSL by winning three games out of four matches.
