Pak U19 Women’s all-round mastery helps them triumph in the opener:
Pakistan U19 Women’s team kicked off their T20 World cup campaign today in Potchefstroom against Rwanda, who are the first team to represent their country at a global cricket tournament. Rwanda started off with a baffling win over the Irish team in a warm-up game and so they were expected to carry their momentum against the Pakistan team as well.
However, the young women of Pakistan used their bowling, a weapon their country is so famous and feared for, and gave the African team a hard time while batting. Pakistan bowlers restricted the Gisele Ishimwe-led team to only a 106 runs tally.
Apart from bowling, the Pakistan team were absolutely immaculate in the field as well as they sent three Rwanda batswomen back by running them out. The star of the first innings was Zarmina Tahir whose finesse behind the stumps helped her get all three run outs to her name in addition to the brilliant last over she bowled where she also struck Geovanis Uwase’s timber.

While batting, Eyman Fatima chipped in her 65 runs innings, striking at the rate of 108 and guided the side for their first win in the tourney while the Skipper Syeda Aroob Fatima complemented her with a 21 ball 20 knock. These performances by the young women of Pakistan helped them achieve the target in 17.5 overs, at the loss of only 2 wickets.
