India’s Shafali Verma hits 6 boundaries in an over:
The U19 Women’s World cup has begun and begun in a way that has made it the talk of the town. The World Cup opening day started with an upset by Bangladesh after they trounced the Australian U19 team by 7 wickets. Meanwhile, the Scottish team was handed a 6 wicket defeat by the UAE women.
The second match of the day of Group D saw Indian women taking on the hosts, South Africa. The hosts posted an impressive total of 166 for the women in blue to chase. However, on the back of strong performances by the opening batters Shafali Verma and Shweta Sehrawat the Indian team made the target look like a piece of cake. Both openers scored a ginormous total of 70 runs in just power play.

Shafali Verma, especially, played a thrilling knock in which she struck at the rate of 281.25. The highlight of her innings was when she thrashed the African pacer Nthabiseng Nini for 6 boundaries in an over.
The Indian Skipper tonked the quick for 1 maximum and 5 fours, scoring a total of 26 runs in the 6th over. This plethora of boundaries helped the 18 year old to score 45 runs on just 16 deliveries. Unluckily, she could not reach her 50 but the damage she intended to do to the South African bowlers was done by the time she walked back to the pavilion.
