David Warner to retire after the T20 World Cup 2024:
David Warner, one of the greatest Australian openers, recently joined the 100 Test club and hinted that the next twelve months could be his last in international cricket. On his return to KFC BBL season 12, the left-handed opener said his target is to win the next T20 world cup 2024 in America and end his career on high. David Warner will play five games for Sydney Thunder this season, and this will be his first appearance in Big Bash League after nine years. He last played a Big Bash match in 2013.
Warner’s international future has been a hot topic this summer. After re-launching his BBL career and signing two years deal with Sydney Thunder, David Warner hinted at his future with Cricket Australia.
“I’ve signed (with the Thunder) for this year and next year, and it’s my time to contribute and give back,” Warner said.
“I’ve got that time to do that now… (This will) most likely be my last year of my international career. I’ve got my sights set on the 2024 (T20) World Cup as well, so finishing in the Americas, that’d be nice to top it off with a win over there, pending selection,” he added.

The fluent opening batter signed a two-year deal with the Thunders; however, his availability for the franchise may be limited due to three-Test series against Pakistan in December-January and two Tests against West Indies in January 2024.
Australia’s superstar batter, who is making his first appearance of season 12 for Sydney Thunder this Friday against Perth Scorchers, has set his eyes on putting in some good performances to help get the team to the top of the ladder.
“We’re fourth at the moment, so the guys have been playing well. We’ve had some injuries and if I can contribute in any way, it’d be awesome. It’s going to be a tough game, obviously the Scorchers are a well-equipped team, they’ve had some great success with four titles,” he said.
David Warner is one of five Australian Test players who will make their BBL comeback this weekend, joining Steve Smith and Nathan Lyon of the Sydney Sixers and Travis Head and Alex Carey of the Adelaide Strikers.
