A massive Tri Series on the Cards involving India and Pakistan:
The enthusiasm with which the seldom occurring Indo-Pak encounters are always greeted has never been news to anyone. However, this fierce rivalry took the cricketing world by surprise when the grand Melbourne Cricket Ground witnessed over 90,000 people in its premises to watch both teams play a final-ball thriller. The match going down the wire further created a rip-roaring and heated atmosphere which not a lot of people have spectated in a while.
Following this historic match, discussions for holding a test match series between Pakistan and India or a triangular series between both Asian giants and Australia down under, are underway as told by the former Australian all-rounder Simon O’Donnell. While talking in a show aired on SEN sports, the 59 year old said, “That game [opening match between Pakistan and India] itself is the one that’s held the tournament up so far, people keep referring back to it. There was 90,000 at a neutral venue, there was extraordinary emotion, the scenes of the game, the tightness of the game, the pressure”.

“There’s also the possibility of a triangular One-Day series between India, Pakistan and Australia or a Test match between India and Pakistan. My word there are [conversations happening] in the wake of this [T20 World Cup clash]. There are already discussions taking place”.
The news has exhilarated everyone as both archnemeses have only been encountering each other in ICC and ACC events. The last time the Asian neighbours played a test match against each other was in 2007, the last bilateral white-ball series, however, was played in 2012-13.
Just a month ago, England and Wales Cricket Board had proposed to both, Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) and Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) to host a test series between the said nations. The offer was denied by both boards, who did not want to play against each other at a neutral venue. Anyhow, if these discussions end up fruitful, this news will be huge for the cricketing world who have been deprived of seeing the most famous rivals of cricket playing a series against each other for more than a decade now.
