Pakistan Recall Mohammad Abbas for Bangladesh Tests: Pakistan have unveiled a fresh yet balanced 16-member squad for their upcoming two-Test series against Bangladesh, set to begin in early May. The tour, part of the ICC World Test Championship cycle, will see the first match played in Dhaka from 8–12 May, followed by the second Test in Sylhet from 16–20 May.

At the helm once again is Shan Masood, who continues to lead the red-ball side as Pakistan look to build consistency in the longer format. The squad reflects a blend of experience and new talent, with four uncapped players—Abdullah Fazal, Amad Butt, Azan Awais, and Muhammad Ghazi Ghori—earning their maiden call-ups. Their inclusion signals a clear intent by selectors to invest in emerging players while maintaining a strong core.

Several members of the squad are already in rhythm, currently participating in a red-ball training camp in Lahore. Among them are Imam-ul-Haq, Noman Ali, and Sajid Khan, alongside the younger inclusions. This preparation is expected to help players transition smoothly into the Test series.

Before departure, the team will gather in Karachi for a preparatory camp starting 27 April. The camp will run until 1 May, after which the squad is scheduled to travel to Bangladesh. Players involved in the ongoing Pakistan Super League will join the squad depending on their franchise commitments, adding a layer of logistical coordination ahead of the tour.

Off the field, Pakistan have also restructured their coaching setup for the series. Former captain Sarfaraz Ahmed has been appointed as head coach for the tour, bringing leadership experience and recent success with youth and A-team setups. Supporting him are Asad Shafiq as batting coach and Umar Gul as bowling coach—both seasoned internationals with deep understanding of the game.

The squad itself features established names such as Babar Azam, Mohammad Rizwan, and Shaheen Shah Afridi, who are expected to form the backbone of the team. Meanwhile, the inclusion of dual wicketkeeping options adds flexibility, and a varied bowling attack provides balance suited to subcontinental conditions.

With a mix of youth, experience, and a refreshed coaching group, Pakistan head into the Bangladesh series aiming not just for results, but for long-term stability in their Test setup. The tour could prove to be an important step in shaping the next phase of the team’s red-ball journey.
