Shadab Khan Leads From Front as Islamabad Outclasses Karachi: Islamabad United extended their perfect start to the PSL 2025 season with a dominant six-wicket victory over Karachi Kings at a packed National Stadium. The defending champions made light work of a meager 129-run target, sealing the win with 17 balls to spare in a display of tactical superiority.

Karachi’s Batting Stumbles Again

The Kings’ innings never found rhythm after early setbacks. Naseem Shah’s fiery opening spell accounted for skipper David Warner (3), while Jason Holder uprooted James Vince’s stumps to reduce the hosts to 22/2 inside four overs.

Promoted up the order, Tim Seifert anchored the innings with a painstaking 30 off 37 balls, but his inability to rotate strike stifled Karachi’s momentum. Saad Baig’s brief flourish (20 off 17) offered hope, but Shadab Khan’s clever bowling (1/22) triggered another collapse. The middle order folded meekly, with Khushdil Shah’s 17 off 23 epitomizing the struggle.

A late assault from Abbas Afridi (24* off 9, with three towering sixes) salvaged some pride, lifting Karachi to 128/7. However, the total always seemed inadequate against Islamabad’s deep batting lineup.

United’s Controlled Chase

Sahibzada Farhan set the tone with a blistering 18-ball 30, including two sixes, before Hasan Ali’s sharp caught-and-bowled intervention. Azam Khan (31 off 30) then assumed the role of stabilizer, partnering with Shadab Khan to extinguish Karachi’s fading hopes.

The United captain led by example, mixing calculated aggression with risk-free accumulation in his 40-ball 47. His dismissal at 127—just shy of victory—was a mere footnote as Mohammad Nawaz clipped the winning single to complete another emphatic performance.

Turning Point

Abbas Afridi’s late cameo briefly energized Karachi, but Islamabad’s early strikes with the ball and Farhan’s explosive start rendered the contest one-sided.

Standout Performers

  • Shadab Khan (IU): 47 (40) & 2/17 – Captain’s all-round masterclass
  • Abbas Afridi (KK): 24* (9) & 1/24 – Lone bright spot for Karachi

What’s Next?

Islamabad (4 wins) solidify their playoff credentials, while Karachi (1 win) face mounting pressure to revive their campaign. The Kings’ brittle batting remains a concern ahead of their next fixture.
